The Attributes of the Beloved’s Beloved
Addressed to: Shaykh Darwīsh Muḥammad (may Allah have mercy on him)
نَحْمَدُهُ وَنُصَلِّي عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ الْكَرِيمِ
Translation of the letter:
It is an established truth that anything possessing the character and traits of the Beloved becomes beloved in itself, due to its alignment with the Beloved.
This is the very secret conveyed in the Qur’anic verse:
“So follow me, and Allah will love you.” (Qur’an 3:31)
Therefore, striving to emulate the Prophet ﷺ is the path that leads one to the station of being beloved by Allah. It is thus incumbent upon every intelligent and discerning person to conform both his outward and inward to the complete way of the Beloved of Allah ﷺ.
Lesson:
Every Muslim in the world should reflect the example of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in outward appearance and conduct. Both external actions and internal intentions and thoughts must be made subservient to the Sharī‘ah and Sunnah.
One must adopt the character and behavior commanded by the Messenger ﷺ, and stay far from all innovations, customs, and misdeeds that he forbade.
